At Milam Children's Center, we build the foundation that makes curiosity natural — through attentive care, thoughtful routines, and an environment where young minds are trusted to grow at their own pace.
Serving
Lubbock Families
Milam Children's Center was founded on a simple conviction: the earliest years deserve the most thoughtful attention. Located at 1105 38th St in Lubbock, we've built a program where each child's temperament, interests, and developmental rhythm shape the day — not the other way around.
Our classrooms are small by design. That means educators actually know your child — the way they like their snack, the song that calms them, the puzzle they're ready to tackle next. It means parents hear specifics at pickup, not generalities. And it means every child has the space to be exactly who they are while becoming someone brave enough to explore.
Every child receives individualized attention in a warm, home-like environment.
Developmentally grounded activities that spark curiosity and build school readiness.
Transparent communication and genuine partnerships with every family we serve.
Licensed, secure facilities designed with children's wellbeing as the highest priority.
Each program is designed to meet your child where they are — with the right balance of structure, play, and guided discovery for their stage.
0 – 12 months
Gentle, responsive care tailored to the rapid developmental changes of infancy. Low child-to-caregiver ratios ensure each baby receives the consistent, nurturing attention they need to build secure attachment and confidence.
1 – 2 years
A space for toddlers to move, question, and discover with growing independence. Our environment supports emerging motor skills, language development, and the first steps toward social interaction — all within a predictable, reassuring routine.
2 – 4 years
Structured learning through play that builds the cognitive, social, and emotional skills children need for kindergarten and beyond. Children engage in guided activities that develop early literacy, numeracy, and creative thinking.
4 – 5 years
A purposeful pre-K program that prepares children for the academic and social demands of kindergarten. Through project-based learning, guided reading, and collaborative problem-solving, children build confidence and school readiness.
5 – 12 years
Before and after-school care that extends learning beyond the classroom. Children enjoy supervised homework time, creative projects, outdoor play, and social activities in a supportive environment that respects their growing independence.
All ages
An engaging summer experience that keeps children learning, active, and connected throughout the break. Our programs blend educational enrichment, outdoor adventure, and creative exploration so summer feels like an extension of the school year — only more fun.
Our educational philosophy draws from developmental research and decades of practical experience. We believe that young children learn best through guided play, meaningful routines, and relationships with adults who truly see them.
Every element of our program — from the way we structure daily transitions to the materials we choose for each learning center — is intentional. We measure success not by how quickly children can memorize, but by how confidently they approach new challenges, how kind they are to one another, and how much they enjoy the process of figuring things out.
Children thrive when they feel known. Our low ratios allow educators to build deep, trusting relationships with every child and family.
Structured and free play are the engines of cognitive, social, and emotional development. We design environments where play is purposeful and rich with opportunity.
Parents are the experts on their children. We communicate openly, share observations regularly, and welcome family input into every aspect of the program.
From morning circle time to outdoor exploration, every moment at Milam Children's Center is an opportunity to learn, connect, and grow.
We invite you to schedule a visit and see firsthand the environment where your child will learn, play, and grow. Our doors are always open to families who are looking for something better.
